The Smithtown Booster Club Announces the 2010 Scholarship Golf Classic Honoree:
Carl Gianino
Dear Golf Classic Supporter:
The Booster Club of Smithtown will be holding its 29th Annual Scholarship Fund Golf Classic on Monday, July 26th, 2010 at St. George’s Golf & Country Club in East Setauket. As a local business or family in the Smithtown Central School District, we anticipate that your support will contribute to the success of this fundraising event.
The Booster Club of Smithtown is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of the student athletes of both Smithtown High Schools. Our Annual Golf Classic is one of our most important events for the continued support of these programs. Through the success of last year’s event, we were able to present twenty (20) $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school student athletes. The continuous support that we receive from the local community is greatly appreciated and we expect to award another twenty (20) scholarships this year.
This year’s 29th Annual Golf Classic honors Carl Gianino. Carl graduated from The University of Maryland in 1984. He is a registered NY State Professional Engineer and is the lead Fire Protection Engineer with National Grid which serves the Northeast U.S. and all of the United Kingdom. Carl served on the Smithtown Board of Education from 2006-2009, holding the office of President from 2007 – 2009 where his leadership helped attain two years with zero tax increases, and the establishment of the Capital Reserve Fund to refurbish the gym at High School East, and install two synthetic turf fields at both high schools. He was named “Man of the Year in Education” by the Times of Smithtown in 2008. He is also involved with Athletes in Action on Long Island, and carrying out the “The Great Commission" by being a member of and working with the North Shore Community Church.
We truly appreciate your support and we ask that you support our Annual Golf Classic in any way that you can, choices include: sponsoring one of the day’s events; sponsoring a tee sign or website advertisement; donating a raffle prize; and, of course, participating in our special day which includes a barbeque lunch, round of golf, cocktail party and gala awards dinner.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to another great Annual Golf Classic.
